'Krisennavigator' Goes International
News Release # 4/00 (Tuesday, September 12, 2000)
Kiel / Muenster, Germany - What are the challenges of globalization for crisis management at international companies? How can subsidiaries of international companies effectively protect themselves from the risks that arise from U.S. liability laws? Why is negative stakeholder activity on the Internet a serious and growing problem? Crisisnavigator provides answers to these and other questions. www.crisisnavigator.org is the international sister site of the German Internet portal www.krisennavigator.de.
"Many companies underestimate the risks involved in doing business at an international level," explains Frank Roselieb regarding the launch of Crisisnavigator. The 31-year-old crisis researcher at the University of Kiel, Germany, functions as Editor-in-Chief and Webmaster of both Web sites. With Crisisnavigator the publishers intend to help prevent devastating corporate crises, which often have a global impact. In cooperation with reputable consulting firms, international business media, and partner universities around the world, Crisisnavigator will become a leading portal for information on crisis, risk, and disaster management.
"The success of the German Krisennavigator made it clear to us that there is a huge demand for reliable information in this area," adds Juergen Hauschildt (64), Professor for Business Administration and well-known crisis researcher with the University of Kiel, Germany. Similar to the German site, Crisisnavigator is designed as an open Internet portal. Corporate risk managers, disaster researchers, and crisis communications experts can submit case studies and articles, announce conferences, and register as members - all for free.
"We believe that the link between academia and the corporate world is important," says Jens Leker (37), Professor at the University of Muenster, Germany, and co-publisher of both Web sites. Through partnerships with reputable consulting firms the academic publishers gain valuable advice and become aware of new trends in the corporate world.
"Currently there is no comparable Internet portal available in the U.S.," reports Alan Freitag. The 51 year old is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA, Crisisnavigator's North American partner university. The partnership with a U.S. university ensures current information from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean as well as credibility and neutrality of the Internet portal on a long-term basis.
"My colleagues and I were impressed by the depth and quality of the information available on the German Krisennavigator Web site," says 30-year-old Oliver S. Schmidt. A native of Berlin, Germany, Schmidt is Senior Partner for Strategic Services with the partner company C4CS™, a crisis and issues management firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Together with the German consulting firms ad tempus consulting Gesellschaft fuer Unternehmensmanagement mbH (Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Duesseldorf, all Germany), S+V Dr. Schlebusch, Volz + Cie. GmbH (Frankfurt am Main, Germany), and TMC Turnaround Management Consult GmbH (Dortmund, Hamburg, Berlin, all Germany), C4CS™ acts as Krisennavigator sponsor.
