Philip Jan Rothstein
Philip Jan Rothstein is a Management Consultant experienced in a broad variety of strategic roles. As President of Rothstein Associates Inc. since 1985, his mission has been management of profound business risk in the face of unpredictable circumstances. His consulting emphasis is on business continuity, disaster avoidance and recovery, and continuous availability of high technology business environments. His background over the past 28 years also includes: strategic planning; productivity and organizational effectiveness; mergers, acquisitions, consolidations and divestitures; security; software; voice and data communications; and, human factors engineering. He has relocated, consolidated or constructed over thirty data centers and high technology facilities.
Mr. Rothstein is Publisher of The Rothstein Catalog on Disaster Recovery, one of the industry's principal sources for hundreds of books, research reports, software tools and videos. He is editor and principal author of the book 'Disaster Recovery Testing: Exercising Your Contingency Plan' (1994). He has been interviewed by print and broadcast media including London Times, Wall Street Journal, Australian News, TCI Cable Television, InformationWeek, Crain's Business Chicago, Crain's Business New York, Investor's Business Daily, Associated Press, Gannett Suburban Newspapers, Software Magazine, Miami Herald, Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant, Home Office Computing, Corporate Security Newsletter and Digital Review.
He has served since 1994 on the Advisory Board of Survive! The Business Continuity Group and from 1987 to 1994 on the Business Advisory Board of the Contingency Planning Exchange. His articles have been commissioned by Datamation, Contingency Journal, InfoSecurity News, Disaster Recovery Journal, Communications News, Auerbach Publishers, National Computer Security Association News, Enterprise Systems Journal, Datapro Research Corporation, Survive! Magazine, Contingency Planning & Management, Bank Automation News, the I.B.C. International Yearbook Planning for Disaster Recovery, Westchester County Business Journal, Carolina Business and numerous newsletters.
Furthermore, Mr. Rothstein has written an ongoing column addressing top management's concerns on business continuity for Contingency Journal and writes an ongoing column appearing in InfoSecurity News. He is a frequent speaker on business continuity, disaster avoidance and disaster recovery for top corporate management and at industry conferences. He is sought after by the media: he has been interviewed live on CNBC-TV following the Oklahoma City bombing, on KPIX-FM San Francisco after capture of the Unabomber suspect and on News Channel 8 (Washington, DC) during the AOL outage in August, 1996.
Mr. Rothstein has led numerous public and custom seminars on Disaster Recovery for the American Management Association, Hitachi Data Systems, Wang Laboratories, Data-Tech Institute and other organizations. He was elected Fellow by The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) in 1994 in recognition of his substantial contributions to the business continuity and disaster recovery industry. He holds a B.S. degree in Computer Sciences from the City College of New York, School of Engineering, with extensive graduate studies in Human Factors Engineering, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.
